Helicopters that fly over Bristol - And why

There are many helicopters that regularly fly over Bristol and here I will explain why.

The yellow helicopters that fly over Bristol with the word 'ELECTRICITY' wrote on the side are owned by Western Power Distribution. They are used primarily within the electricity distribution industry for the maintenance and repair of networks and also used during emergency and fault conditions.

According to Western Power Distribution's website as of the 28th of May 2020 they own a fleet of five of these choppers that operate out of their headquarters at Bristol Airport.

What type of helicopters are they?

They are - EC135 helicopters.

About the EC135 Eurocopter

The Eurocopter EC135 is a twin-engine civil light utility helicopter produced by Airbus Helicopters. It is capable of flight under instrument flight rules and is outfitted with a digital automatic flight control system.
